I’m really super exited about a new venture that I’ve set out on. I regularly talk to people who are in the process of starting up a new business. Some make a fantastic go of it right from the start but unfortunately, they are the exception rather than the rule. And you know what, I can wholeheartedly sympathise with anyone who finds that building a successful new business can be quite a challenge. Let’s face it, I’ve been there and done that. So a little while ago I decided to put my thinking cap on to see what I can do to help out and give new entrepreneurs a bit of a helping hand. I’ve been working on a new project to do exactly that ever since and it’s all starting to take shape. I’m so exited about this that I can hardly wait for it to be finished so I can tell you all about it.

- I'm a small business development coach and specialise in helping people who want to start their own business. My own business background has a fair bit of variety in and that of course does help me understand what the issues are that can face a new business owner. As a first step on my career path I joined the Air Force and became an air traffic controller. And you know what, I’m glad I did because if nothing else it taught me to think on my feet and apply a good dose of lateral thinking to boot. Back into civilian life I studied accounting and information systems and became a business analyst. My forte was being the liaison between business users and IT and that’s where I learned to listen, test and teach. After a while I needed a sea change and that’s when my partner and I decided to buy a block of land and start a vineyard with tourist accommodation. Building this up from scratch has given me a real feel for what’s involved in starting up a new business. When we eventually sold the business I decided that consulting as a small business mentor would be the best place to take my experience and help other new entrepreneurs find their way to success in starting a new business.
